Back home.

We're home from Oregon-- It was a wonderful day of seeing Crater Lake for the first time, even though in my humble opinion Lake Tahoe is more impressive ;). We hugged family goodbye with the backdrop of the gorgeous lake and Josiah and I, and our "son" Murphy were on our way back to California. It was hard to say goodbye to everyone after such a wonderful trip. Especially Elizabeth, since we most likely won't see her for another year. :(

In Ashland, we stopped to see Joe's friend Evan and had starbucks in the cutest little town I've seen in awhile. The rest of of the time, it was just me and my husband and little Murphy in the car together. I love roadtrips because of the time spent in the car with just a little scenery on the way is enough to get my heart to start dreaming. And thats what Josiah and I did, just dream about our future and our lives together. Today we have been married for two months.

Its good to be home. Its good to have something to call home. I love this house, but even more than that, I love what this house means for Josiah and I.

Adventures in Oregon.

This week I have been in Sunriver, Oregon with Josiah and his family. It's been so nice here. Today we took a ski lift to the top of Mt. Bachelor which gave incredible panoramic views of the snow-capped Buttes and mountain lakes and valleys. I know that we have to leave to go home tommorrow, but I don't want to. I am thankful for the fact that Josiah and I both have jobs now that will start soon, but this mini-vacation has been so wonderful. And I know going home means I will have to face the decision of school, which I am avoiding so successfully here. Should I switch to Chapman? Should I stick it out at Sac State? I was hoping that this time away would give me some clarity, but I haven't even begun to tackle these decisions. I know that God works outside the boundaries of time, but it sure seems like He doesn't when there are rapidly approaching deadlines screaming at me to make a choice. Anyhow, here are a few random things that happened the last few days:

Last night, we went out to a nice dinner for Elizabeth's birthday. The restaurant was very upscale with elaborate dishes, so I ordered the herb crusted halibut. It had been literally years since I have had halibut so I was delighted for this chance to order it. It was delicious-- coated with a blanket of buttery, crusty herbs with fish so light and tender it melted in my mouth. Unfortunately, I can't describe this dish much longer because as I do now, my stomach is cramping up. Last night after a few card games, my stomach began to clinch, and little did I know that that would begin my night of trips to the bathroom and violent stomach pain, in which I whimpered to Josiah all night long. Ironic-- how many thousands of times have I eaten at sketchy fast food places or taco stands and have been just fine? Nope, it took this expensive gourmet resturant to take me down. Go figure.

The other day we were driving from the Gelsingers home in Beaverton to our vacation in Sunriver (Elizabeth, Josiah, Kathryn and I--the "cousins") and we see this faded red toyota pickup on the freeway, with of course only part of the TOYOTA name printed on the back. I don't remember if it was YO or TOY or what, but it was classy in its own right. Anyhow, we pass this vehicle only to see the woman driver drinking straight from a bottle of wine. I thought my eyes had tricked me, so I asked the others in the car if they saw it. They all had and we all errupted in shocked laughter. I asked if maybe it wasn't wine but sparkling cider or something else, but Kathryn responded, "Well I'm assuming its wine because her passenger is swigging from a beer can." What?! I guessed I missed that. I considered calling 9-11 but my phone was off and tucked away in the trunk. But I definately can't say that I've seen anything like that before. It made me wonder how many other people do that on the road but have the cleverness to hide it in a thermos or something. Hmmm, maybe I am using the word "clever" too loosely. Yeah...

I have so enjoyed this trip and the chance to get to know my new family more. We have all have shared many laughs together and everyday I feel more a part of this wonderful family. Plus, our puppy Murphy has stolen everyone's heart. He just goes about recieving all the doting love he can from one person before moving on to the next. He's truly going to be a mountain weiner dog too. Yesterday we took him hiking for 4 hours and he kept up with us the whole way. Yeah Murphy!
